The Search for Justice

   Often times in many novels there are many themes of love, hate, forgiveness and the search for justice. A prevalent theme in the novel, Crime and Punishment, is the search for justices, its meaning , importantance, and success in finding it is varied for multiple characters in "Crime and Punishment."
   Now the protagonist of this novel us Raskolnikov Romnavich. Who finds himself in search of justice. Is journey begins as he begins to struggle financially to the point where he's living in a closet, can't pay his rent, and has dropped out of school. He begins to sell his valuables to a mean old pawnbroker in exchange for a loan. The problem lieing in the fact that she gives less money than the item are worth and expects more back in payment than she loaned him.
   So this ideal comes into Raskolnikov's head to murder her and free all the people on debt to her. This very decision is where we gain insight into his understanding of what justice is. For in his mind Ridding the world of such a horrible being would better the lives of many. All those who were in debt to her would no longer be and thus in the end she mist certainly would not be missed.

Public Speaking

  Often times whenevr the discussion of public speaking comes up, many people get cold feet. For some its their absolutle worst fear, but for others its their greatest attribute. Just being able to  speak in front of others freely and confidently is what they strive at doing. So what is it exacted that makes these people "great" public speakers ?
   First, effective public speakers are those who know how to speak clearly, directly, effectively, and all in all confidently. They know how to pronounciate they're words and don't stumble or mumble. Allowing the audience to understand what your speaking about, instead of focusing on trying to figure out what your saying.
   In addition, they know how to make direct eye contact with the audience. Instead of looking down or around which makes the audience feel as though you are not really interested in them or what your taking about. Looking at them makes it appear as though you care that they're listening to you. Now you've got their attention.
   Also, they do their research beforehand and continuously practice what they're going to speak about. They dont have to waste time trying to figure out what else is it that they're going to say.Demonstrating confidence and how to make use of the possible limited time you may have to speak.
   Furthermore, they use words within and out of their vocabulary. Words the audience may or not be familiar with but words that fit their discussion. Often times people use "big" words that have the opposite effect of what they intend. Public speakers must be careful when they use these words, that they do so effectively and they fit into what they're saying. Don't use words you dont understand or come off as overbearing.
   Even more so, sometimes they use media to help with their presentation, speech etc... But not to the excess where the audience is more interested in the picture, music, or video, then what your saying. They use media as an aid to further project their point and catch the audiences attention even more. In conclusion, when it comes to public speaking often times it may not come natural but it can be worked on through the above techniques.

Stranger than Fiction

  Recently in English class we started watching a movie entitltled "Stranger than Fiction", staring the reknowned actor and comedian Will Ferrel. The movie was comical and humorous of course as to be suspected in any movie Will Ferrel stars in. But it also had a bot of a serious tone to it and left us with message.
  First, the movie tells the tale of a man who lives his life the same way everyday going about the same, monotonous, routine. He never seeks more or aspires to be anything more than he is at the moment. He lives in the city, in an apartment alone, working for the IRS and is content with living just that way. Also hus watch is a key asset to this routine.
  Now the twist comes when all of sudden everything he does as he does it is being narrated by an unforseen voice. He's the only one who can hear it but he can't see it. Now on our perspective we see that there is actually this women who is writing a story, his life nonetheless is the story, so she's the one controlling his life, and she's stuck on what to write.
   It's a movie based on the narrator's descretion, anything she's says happens and we ate able to see both sides of this affair.

Hamlet Sane Crazy or Little Bit of Both

   Hamlet is one of Shakespeare's most beloved and well known characters. But often times when people read Hamlet they question his sanity. Is he crazy or is he sane? Is he a genius or is he simply afraid and tactless?
   It is important to understand everything Hamlet is dealing with. For one he has sworn to his dead father's ghost that he will exact vengeance for his fathers murder by his uncle. Then his mother marries his uncle not long after her husband is murdered. The love of his life wants nothing to do with him do her fathers strict control of her life. He even becomes the very thing he wishes not to become a murder of another's father.
   Which leads to the first question, is he sane or crazy? Throught out the play Hamlet actions and words are what make him seem crazy. The fact that he cotemplates suicide and talks to himself.
